Hiring a band can add tremendously to your next event. The atmosphere changes with the addition of quality live music. People will respond to a live band differently than to any other entertainment, and the entire event can become even more memorable.
To begin you should focus your attention on what the demographics are of your attendees. What sort of music styles will fit this crowd? Is the event one where dancing would be appropriate? If you intend to have dancing be sure that the room is set up to allow ample space for this activity, and having an actual dance floor would be a great bonus.
If the event is one that needs less sound, consider a smaller musical group. There are excellent duos, trios and even solo artists that can truly add to the program while not distracting too much from conversation and other goings on.
Once you determine that you will be hiring a band, seek out those you know who may have done so recently and get referrals. Go to hear some live bands in your area and get an idea of what the charges are, and call their references.
A quality band should be on time, charge a fair market price and provide you with one less detail to worry about, while adding a lot to your event.
